You've already been blessed with a girl, but you would like to raise a child of the opposite sex as well. If you leave this up to chance, you have a 50% chance of conceiving a child of the desired gender. The Silverman Center for Gender Selection in Westchester, NY offers proven sex selection techniques that enable parents a higher chance of choosing the gender of their child.
At conception, an embryo contains 46 chromosomes, which carry the DNA. Half of the chromosomes come from the father, carried by sperm, and half come from the mother, stored in the egg. Gender is determined by one pair of chromosomes, called the sex chromosomes. Female embryos carry two X chromosomes, while male embryos carry an X and a Y. The mother always provides one X chromosome while the father contributes either an X or a Y. These differences in the genetic make up between male and female embryos can be used in the process of sex selection. The Silverman Center provides two methods of gender selection, the Ericsson Method, and another technique called Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis.
Dr. Silverman, who carries both a doctorate in Microbiology and a medical degree, has over 18 years of experience using the Ericsson Method of Gender Selection. He is also trained in newer techniques including In vitro fertilization and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.
The Silverman Center for Gender Selection offers patients an array of services, including:
- Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
- The Ericsson Method for Gender Selection
Dr. Silverman completed a grueling course at the State University of New York, Buffalo, earning both an MD and a PhD in Microbiology. He continued on to the University of Michigan where he completed his internship. He then went to the National Institute of Health where he served as a Research Associate. He then did his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University in Montreal. After this, he secured a place as an Assistant Professor in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He ultimately completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and became the Director of the In Vitro Fertilization program in San Antonio.
